Jantar Mantar

JantarMantar

In the strange, caged, and bound space of “protest” that Jantar Mantar in Delhi has now become [been reduced to?], there are moments when some voices still rise wrechingly above the din.

    hi Gautam

At Jantar Manter, I just happened to talk to the man who wants his wife returned… he seems to be quite a simpleton,a gentle looking man, resigned from his job as an engineer from central UP… which he regrets now, he showed me few letters of protest and a petition letter to Supreme Court even… all hand written… speaks good english…all he is able to say that his brother-in-law manipulated the whole thing and destroyed his famlily… he has children whom he cant meet…a 19 year old story, and knows even the man who is his wife’s lover, and wants his wife to go through lie detecting machine… but is helpless….

meanwhile his prortery worth crores has been taken over by his elder brother who gives him 1200 rupees every month which he hates… but is helpless again… in nut shell he looks quite frustrated now…but a gentleman who was not clever enough to understand the simple formulas to keep the family intact…

the other layer the image which cuts across the eye is that the man is not visible in the deserted image and performs the function of a metaphor… a intersting one…the absence of man generates an discourse…or is simply represented by naked text…. and all that…

the image which you uploaded is quite heavy… 2.13 MB… conceptually it works… the slow unveiling of the image in comparison to all other images in Kafila…. it works…

    enjoyed the image
    love
    is
